Taking a peek

While I was shooting this wedding, I had noticed this cool little window. With all the crazy lights in the room it made the washed out window surprisingly colorful.  I knew at one point she would peek out the window at the wedding.   When she did I was ready for it.

First underwater shoot with Allison.

This was my first underwater shoot with my camera flash rig. A big thanks goes out to Allison, who was a trooper and very patient. with me.  I learned a lot about underwater shooting. logistics, lighting, buoyancy. Off camera lighting from 15 feet away underwater is a interesting challenge.  All in all it was a fun and successful shoot. For the moment I am pretty happy when I can walk away with only 4 or 5 shots that I am happy with out of 300 or so.  Lots more underwater stuff to come, all sorts of great ideas, and places to shoot.  If anyone is interested in collaborating in the beginning stages of this new project, feel free to contact me.

Strobist info:   SB-800 in a custom modified Nikonos flash housing connected to a EWA marine bag.

Entered in the I Heart Faces challenge.!

Megan and Brian Engagement pics

I always like hanging out with a couple for a day. These days I normally am the third wheel, but when I am shooting at least I have a reason.  We meet up in Carson and hit the capital, which seems to be the go to spot for photographers.   Its like the Rancho San Rafael of Carson.  Next we went to a little waterfall, where I got to play with my new high speed sync.   Then up into the forest to round things off.

My Green wall

I don’t normally shoot on plain bright colored walls, reminds me to much of studio shooting.   I have always seen the red and orange and blue walls shot, shot and shot again on.    But when I drove past this green one, I just had to use it.   Plus is was a brick wall that was painted, added some texture, I liked it.

Lastly one that we shot away from the wall.

Andrea’s wedding

It was a privilege to photograph my friend Jon’s daughters wedding. It was such a fun and wonderful day to be a part of. The chariot that swept them away from the church was a very cool old car which name has escaped me.

One of my fav spots

I recently shot in one of my fav spots.   Amazing that the weather cooperated, Snow in May.   I am really ready for summer.  This spot is a little hard to get to, but its a fun place to explore, despite a few hazards along the way.  However Desiree was a good sport and braved the dangers.
